I Am Here to Clear My Name

Edward's Story

Hi, my name is Edward. This is a picture of me and my daughter at my wedding in 2022. I never thought I would have her in my life, so this picture is truly worth a thousand words.

My high school girlfriend and I conceived her in 2003, when I was 18 and she was 15. In Texas, it's a felony crime for teens who are more than 3 years apart to have a sexually active consensual relationship. Her mom and I were 3 years and 5 months apart (18 and 15, senior and sophomore). I spent 6 years in prison for it, which nearly destroyed my life.

Now, 22 years later, that past charge was misused as a presumption of guilt for my first-ever assault accusation in Amarillo, Texas. My defense attorney made critical errors that left me wrongfully convicted with a five-year prison sentence. Now, I have my Habeas Corpus pending in Potter County Court (Amarillo) asking for a new trial. If the court agrees with my evidence, I will be granted a new trial. And THIS time, the truth will come out.

I fight in peace and prayer to bring to light to the police negligence, misuse of an inadmissible prior charge to prejudice the jury, and how errors by a defense attorney can result in a wrongful conviction. I will provide undeniable proof for every claim. You may ask: What charge could be so bad that it haunts me 22 years later? I'll tell you. This is my story, and why I am asking you to stand with me.
